the KPS Curriculum
The Piano keyboard
Kids learn piano by first getting familiar with the instrument. At KPS, kids learn about the piano’s anatomy and explore the many types of piano keyboards. Students are taught how to learn by creating their own learning tools.
Music Reading & Theory
Learn musical concepts such as rhythm, melody, tempo, dynamics, harmony, and changes in pitch through multidimensional ways. Students learn by crafting, clapping, singing, vocal and other recognition and memorization activities.
position and posture
KPS also focuses heavily on proper hand positioning and body posture. Some days we use coins; other days, we use oranges! We allow creativity to flow, and flexibility happens to make sure that all students feel included and learn THEIR way!
Ear training workshops
Kids learn to play by ear when trained to catch rhythms and recreate their favorite melodies. For some students, it’s a talent we help discover; for others, it’s a journey they can’t wait to explore It all starts with the “Do-Re-Mi’s.
ages 3-6
All year round. Membership renews every three months. Rates depend on how many sessions the child will join weekly. Come anytime, join any session. KPS also offers sibling discount.
ages 7+
Little to no music experience. Courses run for two-three consecutive months. Weekly scheduled sessions.
